Interferons, pleotropic cytokines that have long been regarded as important effector molecules, are increasingly recognized due to their role in cancer and in antitumor immune response regulation. Type I interferon constitutes a component of the combinational therapy against viral diseases. Acute pancreatitis is one of side effects of type I interferon-based therapy. In the current study, we aim to characterize function of key transcription factors and adaptor molecules in interferon signaling and in associated pathways such as STAT1 (Signal transducers and activators of transcription 1), MyD88 (Myeloid differentiation primary response 88), and TRIF (TIR-domain-containing adaptor-inducing interferon-b) during acute pancreatitis.
