Model Reduction of Population Balance Dynamics

Population balance models are complex infinite-dimensional systems. The interaction of hyperbolic partial differential equations with ordinary differential equations involving integral terms often exhibits a low-dimensional dominant behaviour. In this new project, we will investigate whether this can be related to the existence of inertial manifolds or intrinsic low-dimensional manifolds.
