Porous materials, such as glass foams, have shown promise as a viable option for supporting bone recovery due to their mechanical properties and structural similarities to bone, particularly in terms of porosity. By understanding how different porous morphologies impact mechanical strength, we can tailor the design of porous materials to meet specific requirements and applications. This has significant implications in various fields, including biomedical engineering, where the development of bone implants with optimized porous structures can enhance osseointegration and overall implant performance. Computed tomography (CT), complemented by techniques like Spectral CT and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) analysis, has proven to be a valuable method for studying the structural, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials like porous glass foams.
