High-resolution multimodal imaging to understand the maldevelopment of foveal and binocular vision in albinism - from single cones to visual function

A recent novel discovery of retinal alterations in the eye of persons with albinism offers a chance to uncover the retinal cause of visual brain changes and ultimately visual dysfunction in albinism. We take this opportunity by applying modern human in vivo retinal and brain imaging and aim at setting the foundation for a systematic investigation of the eye-brain- function relationship with sufficient impact to make a difference for albinism.
