This research mainly focuses on the system methodology for two types of lobe cam reducer including geometric design, kinematic analysis, and kinetic analysis. The cam profile is derived using the rigid body transformation method of the eccentric rotating camshaft, not by the rotating camshaft itself. The engagement actions between both lobe cams and roller turrets are multiple rollers to contact action. According to Newton’s second law in kinetic analysis, the reducer mechanism is divided into the resisted and driving transmission simultaneously on the conjugate rigid lobe cam. With the different cost calculations, case discussion analysis and experimental verification are also carried out. For transmission usage, a lobe cam reducer is with a small volume and large reduction ratio, easy for processing and assembly, and suitable for heavy load and high performance applications.
