Qualitative and structural network analysis as well as a quantitative modeling and systems-theoretical analysis are of importance for the understanding of the immense complexity of biological processes, e.g. the signaling in epithelial cells which become infected by human pathogenic microorganisms. To initiate new perspectives in the field of biomedical applications we intend to analyse in H. pylori-infected epithelial cells the processes of dedifferentiation (e.g. motogenic response). H. pylori induces chronic inflammatory diseases which could finally lead to the development of gastric neoplasia and cancer. Thus, the investigation of the disease-associated processes should allow the identification of key-molecules by in silico prediction. The defined and experimentally confirmed target molecules should allow the option to develop therapeutic intervention strategies.
