Neben langjähriger umfassender Erfahrungen im gesamten Spektrum der HNO-Erkrankungen hat sich Prof. Arens in seiner klinischen Tätigkeit vor allem auf die Diagnostik und Behandlung von Kehlkopferkrankungen sowie Tumoren der oberen Luft- und Speisewege spezialisiert.

Die Forschungsschwerpunkte sind auf Untersuchungen in der Diagnostik des Kehlkopfkarzinoms und seiner Vorstufen sowie die Entwicklung und den Einsatz endoskopisch bildgebender Verfahren gerichtet.

The Virtual and Augmented Reality Group (formerly CAS Group) was founded in July 2020 by the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Magdeburg and is headed by Prof. Dr. Christian Hansen. The group is part of the research campus STIMULATE, a research center in the field of image guided local therapies. Our research focuses on virtual/augmented reality, human-computer interaction and image processing with an emphasis on medical applications. We offer lectures and seminars in the bachelor and master programs of Computer Science, Computational Visualistics, and Medical Systems Engineering. Prof. Michael Friebe is a German citizen with expertise in diagnostic imaging + image guided therapies, as founder/innovator/CEO/investor, and scientist. After a BSc. in electrical engineering he spend 5 years in San Francisco as R&D Engineer at a MRI + Ultrasound device manufacturer. He graduated with a MSc. in Technology Management from Golden Gate University, San Francisco and back in Germany obtained his PhD in Medical Engineering. He currently is an affiliate Professor at TUM, Munich; Professor at IHBI QUT in Brisbane; and professor of HealthTec Innovation at the medical faculty Otto-von-Guericke-University, Magdeburg, Germany.
