Stimulus-dependent molecular processes in cells
The main scientific objective in this program is the studying of cell behaviour and cell properties by applying microsystems technology. This is done by developing novel integrated measurement techniques implemented on-chip. Intercellular communication between surface-attached cells (with control of the cell environment by microfluidic technologies) in microfluidic flow-through systems (cell size, shape, optical properties, dielectric properties and other physical parameters) are part of the study. Applications of this work are found in disease research, cell separation, cell culture control, toxicology.
