Water management in the gas diffusion layer of a PEM fuel cell is of essential importance for performance and reliability. Since the porous layer is very thin, the use of discrete approaches is necessary for accurate simulation. To this purpose, pore network models are developed and applied, with emphasis on drying by means of a gas purge flow.
