Bricks belong to the oldest building materials, but they are still in frequent use and of a great importance. Especially the drying of bricks is of key interest for energy savings and product quality. The new generation of industrial processes for the drying of bricks is prepared in this project, based on the intermittent use of microwaves in combination with conventional convective drying. The drying process is investigated by experiments and simulations in Magdeburg. We are cooperating closely with experts on clay materials and on microwave irradiation.
