The Virtual and Augmented Reality Group (formerly CAS Group) was founded in July 2020 by the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Magdeburg and is headed by Prof. Dr. Christian Hansen. The group is part of the research campus STIMULATE, a research center in the field of image guided local therapies.Our research focuses on virtual/augmented reality, human-computer interaction and image processing with an emphasis on medical applications. We offer lectures and seminars in the bachelor and master programs of Computer Science, Computational Visualistics, and Medical Systems Engineering.
We work very closely with our partners in the STIMULATE research network, especially with the University Hospital Magdeburg, the Hannover Medical School, the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen, the Visualization and Explorative Data Analysis Group at the University of Jena, and the Games Institute at the University of Waterloo.
