Electrokinetic Control of Bacterial Deposition and Sorption of Chemicals to Surfaces

The principal aim of this project is to obtain mechanistic insight towards the implementation of electrokinetic approaches for biotechnology-based applications (e.g. treatment of contaminated waters). In particular this project aims at investigating the impact of direct current electric fields on bacterial deposition and the sorption of chemicals. Both factors are highly relevant for the control of the formation of bacterial biofilms and concomitant biotransformation of dissolved and sorbed chemicals.
