Autonomie im Alter: MYoCognition - Myokine zur Steigerung der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit im Alter

In MyoCognition we want to identify the biologically active part of the myokine irisin and test the biological effectiveness of the active fragment in in vitro and in vivo models of the metabolic syndrome, persistent viral infection and Alzheimer's disease. We will describe the influence of Irisin on the development of pathologies in the aging brain and Irisin as a biomarker for high-risk ages.MYoCognition strategy will not only conceptualizes an innovative therapy option for comorbid older patients, but also link applied research with exploitation possibilities in the state of Saxony-Anhalt through the joint development of a validated biomarker, the active ingredient and its application.
