Transport phenomena in electrochemically relevant thin porous layers are key for the further development of environmentally friendly energy production technologies. In case of water splitting by electrolysis, wetting and drying of the anodic transport layer are of special importance. Those processes are here investigated by the Lattice Boltzmann method, which allows for computation on the real porous structure, reconstructed by micro-CT. The research is complementary to a parallel project that uses pore network modeling.
