Simultaneous wetting of porous particles with droplets of a salt solution sprayed on them and drying leads to deposition of the salt (solidified solute) in the porous material with various technical applications. Distribution of the salt depends, among others, on the drying conditions and the internal structure of the porous substrate. Such influences on the combined process of wetting and drying are investigated by means of pore network models. Validation experiments are conducted in micro-fluidic devices.
