Control of discontinuously operated multiproduct plants is a highly non-trivial hybrid control problem. In practice, recipe-based approaches prevail. They provide solutions, which are (i) often even nominally far from optimal and (ii) open-loop and therefore extremely sensitive to unforeseen disturbances [15]. We investigate an alternative control strategy, where complexity of the overall hybrid control synthesis prob-lem is mitigated by imposing a hierarchical control architecture [16, 17].
