The scale transition from pore network models to continuous models (one or two equations) of drying has been pioneered in a previous project for rather uniformly structured porous media. Now this investigation is extended to porous media with specific types of micro-structure (e.g. spatially correlated systems of small and large pores). The key question is, how micro-structural features can be reflected in the parameters of continuous models, breaking path for fast but realistic and accurate process simulations. New algorithmic approaches that would accelerate computations for the underlying pore networks are also considered.
