Pore network models are unique in connecting structural features of porous media with their macroscopic properties in order to, e.g., find out how long a wet material would take to dry. On the other hand, pore network models require a much longer computation time than numerical solution of differential equations for description of transport phenomena at the macro-scale. Therefore, methods are developed for extracting effective transport coefficients from the results of pore network simulations. When successful, this approach can provide both, description of the influence of material structure and computational speed.
