Previous studies have suggested an influence of evolutionary conserved signaling molecules and pathways on a variety of benign and malignant cell types. Recent reports indicate a potential role of cell fate determinants in hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells. However, the exact role of these genes regulating hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells is not well understood. The aims of this study will address the influence of cell fate determinants and evolutionary conserved signaling pathways on hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells (LSC).
