Responsible and Impactful Universities as Sustainable Growth and Enterprise Catalysts in Georgia (RiHEI)

The overall objective of RiHEI is to transform Georgia's higher education system into an engine of sustainable and responsible (social and environmental) growth for businesses and job creation by investing in the skills of young people and better linking education, research and innovation with the needs of the private sector. This will be achieved by positioning higher education institutions as ‘engaged’ transformational actors of the country's economic ecosystem (via the Quadruple Helix-led responsible innovation co-production and public-private impact investments) facilitating youth entrepreneurship, promoting STEAM skills and triggering ecosystem development (cluster synergies) that fully integrate vulnerable communities and remote and rural areas. This will be achieved through the following general objectives (GOs): GO1: Modernise, internationalise and improve access to Georgian higher education for the next generation of labour market actors, with a focus on equal opportunities, gender sensitivity and the inclusion of marginalised groups (including better services for students from remote/rural areas).
GO2: Address the challenges facing Georgian higher education institutions towards becoming a transformative engine for sustainable and responsible (environmental and social) growth, job creation and business creation by radically transforming the way innovation production takes place within higher education institutions and by training higher education institutions to become mobilisers of quadruple helix ecosystems, introducing youth to STEAM.
GO3: Enhanced cooperation with the EU through the development of a network for higher education capacity building, staff exchange and the creation of multi-ecosystems, as well as by motivating Georgian higher education institutions to voluntarily converge with EU standards in higher education, while promoting societal exchange and cooperation, as well as intercultural awareness and understanding.
