Today s Li-ion batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles face serious challenges in meeting lifetime requirements. The objective of this project is to develop new electrochemical models that describe the dynamic behavior and aging of Li-ion batteries. Based on these models obeservers are designed that allow to estimate the state of charge, as well as the aging state of the batterie. Utilizing the derived models and observers, furthermore, optimal charging strategies for the batterie should be obtained.
