Inside-Out Neurocatheter Approach for intravascular access to brain pathologies
For the treatment of brain pathologies different treatment strategies are possible - among them (but not limited to) are placement of radioactive seeds, application of dedicated chemotherapy, intravascular repair of aneurysm. These strategies either use access pathways from the outside (through the skull) or are limited to the intravascular structures. We propose a new access pathway by advancing through the intravascular system and subsequently leaving the structure to enter the brain tissue from inside - all under image guidance. We are proposing a new catheter design that avoids blood-brain barrier conflicts and that is steerable and visible.
