CE is a minimally invasive procedure and provides the examination of vascular patterns and cellular architecture in the larynx, which reduces the risks associated with the surgical biopsy to the patients. The lack of depth of penetration in CE prevents the evaluation of important histopathological information, which results in missing a malignant lesion. Several studies showed that the structure and organization of blood vessels in the vocal fold are dynamic and change during the progression from the healthy stage to the invasive cancer stage. Hence, these vascular patterns are related to the different larynx’s histopathologies. This project focuses on an automatic program for classification of histopathologies based on vascular patterns in CE images in order to support clinicians’ decision to find the final diagnosis of the patients with the real-time larynx’s histopathology.
