Titel: Almost there…
Beschreibung: It's indeed a momentous occasion as we approach the centennial anniversary of the Bauhaus movement in Dessau. As an institution of higher learning, the University of Applied Sciences in Saxony Anhalt is uniquely positioned to facilitate a nuanced exploration of the movement's enduring legacy. By encouraging students to challenge established notions and push the boundaries of critical thinking, we foster an environment that values diverse perspectives and creative expression. The Bauhaus philosophy, with its emphasis on functionality and simplicity, has undoubtedly had a profound impact on modern design and art. However, it's equally important to examine the movement's limitations and overlooked aspects, as well as its continued relevance in contemporary contexts. By incorporating irony, satire, and parody into our discussions, we empower students to think creatively and develop innovative solutions that subvert traditional design rules. This approach not only helps to keep the Bauhaus spirit alive but also ensures that its principles remain relevant and adaptable to the challenges of the 21st century. Through this critical and reflective approach, our students have developed a range of thought-provoking analyses and concepts that challenge the status quo and offer fresh insights into the Bauhaus movement. By questioning established ideas and exploring new perspectives, we can ensure that the Bauhaus legacy continues to inspire and influence future generations of artists, designers, and thinkers.

Results:
- Radically Rational Dining - The main idea behind this project was to perceive the bauhaus principles literally and re-apply them to food in an experimental way.
- Identity eraser - 'identity eraser' is an installation exploring the importance of individual expression in our surroundings, and the consequences of the Bauhaus' goal to achieve accessibility through standardisation.
- Clear reflections - This installation examines collaborative efforts as a path to a true utopia; switching between reflective and transparent, the divider allows two people to face their image as well as each other.
- The Bauhausifier - For the Bauhaus 100 Years Jubilee, we developed an AI-powered interactive installation to transform human movement into real-time Bauhaus-inspired architectural models.
- Anti Bauhaus Manifesto: Deconstructing the Dream, A Podcast - Deconstructing the Dream is a podcast that dives into the philosophies shaping modern design.
- Gestural Music - Development of an gestural music making interface using the movement of the user's hands
- NeoBauhaus - The NeoBauhaus of today rejects bland minimalism and western conventions. Striking a balance between customization and commercialization, neoBauhaus reimagines design through a postmodern lens, creating meaningful contrasts and innovations.
- The Weight of Choices - This project explores the deep tension between functional and emotional design, inspired by the philosophy of the Bauhaus movement. Bauhaus emphasized simplicity, efficiency, and practicality, but often at the expense of emotional resonance and personal connection. This trade-off reveals a profound gap between utility and human connection—a gap that continues to shape how we design and experience the world today.
